Updating bios is required to unleash its full power
That being said unlike most of the other apps the BIOS needs to be updated manually, and that’s precisely the very thing that we will be explaining in this segment.
If your computer is working properly, you do not need to update or flash your BIOS.
If not, click Change OS to select the correct Microsoft Windows Operating System that is currently installed on your computer.
Under “Refine your results:” click on BIOS in the drop down menu to place a check on it. Do not turn off your computer or laptop in any case during the updating process.
As we explained earlier the BIOS update process is slightly different for different brands and in order to leave no stones unturned, we will also be taking you through steps to update the BIOS for HP systems.
That being said the update procedure might vary slightly from product to product.
It is also worth mentioning that the OEM’s stop updating the BIOS for some of the machines after a certain time span. One can also download the Now, this is the easiest part and I have been using this method to update the BIOS on my HP Laptop since quite some time.
Like drivers and softwares, updates for BIOS are also released occasionally, but you should have a very good reason for updating your BIOS, also called flashing your BIOS. In the window, make sure System Summary is selected in the left pane. Note down the characters under “Serial Number” which is your Service Code.
Unless you are having a specific issue like compatibility while installing new hardware that is resolvable through BIOS update, only then you should update your BIOS. In the larger right pane, locate BIOS Version/Date. Type it under Service Tag or Express Service Code’s text box on the webpage and click submit.
